Drop a pin
Location QR code
A location code is a geo: pin. Scanning it opens Apple Maps or Google Maps at the coordinates you enter, which is useful on a trail marker, a packing slip, a venue poster, or a “meet here” card.
Decimal degrees, like 37.7749
Like -122.4194
Logo overlay (optional)
From this device. Embeds will not include it. Error correction switches to H.
Enter latitude and longitude.
Use decimal degrees: latitude from −90 to 90, longitude from −180 to 180. An optional place name is included in the query so the map can show a label. Parentheses in the name are stripped so the payload stays valid.
This is not a live tracker and it does not wrap a Google Maps short link. If you already have a Maps URL, use the URL type. Test with your own phone before you print; older third-party scanners may only show the geo: text.
Questions
- Where do I find the coordinates?
- In Google Maps, drop a pin and copy the numbers from the info card. In Apple Maps, look at the pin’s coordinates. Paste latitude and longitude into the two fields.
- Will this open Apple Maps or Google Maps?
- The phone decides. iPhone Camera typically opens Apple Maps. Android typically opens Google Maps. The payload is the standard geo: form both understand.
- Can I encode a plus code or a street address instead?
- Not in this type. Put a Maps search URL in the URL generator, or add a place name here so the pin has a label.
